Stud Bolt Reconditioning

Every turnaround strips out thousands of large-diameter stud bolts, and most are scrapped while the steel in them is still sound. We give the suitable ones a controlled second service cycle — cleaned, identified, inspected, protected and returned certified.

  • High-tensile alloy stud bolts from 1.1/4" to 3.00"
  • AI-assisted condition analysis, with qualified review deciding
  • Laser marking so every bolt keeps its own inspection record
  • Bolts outside the acceptance criteria are withdrawn to recycling

From returned stud to verified component

  1. 01

    Sort

Separate reconditioning candidates from components that should not proceed.

  2. 02

    Surface preparation

Remove corrosion and old coating by controlled abrasive blasting.

  3. 03

    Laser identification

Traceable marking ties inspection and batch records to the individual bolt.

  4. 04

    Condition analysis

AI-assisted screening of surface, thread profile and material condition.

  5. 05

    Verification

Qualified review confirms the result against the approved acceptance criteria.

  6. 06

    Protective finish

The specified finish applied to a controlled film thickness — PTFE or zinc.

  7. 07

    Pack & release

Protected for handling and released back to service with its certification.

Why it is the lower-carbon choice

Avoid premature scrap

Making a new alloy stud bolt means smelting, forming, threading and heat treatment — the carbon is spent long before the bolt reaches the flange. Reconditioning skips all of it.

Assisted, not automated

AI screens recorded condition data consistently and flags what needs attention. Qualified review against approved criteria still makes the decision to reuse.

No heavy-metal plating

A PTFE fluoropolymer finish does the job cadmium plating used to do, without a carcinogenic, aquatically toxic process in your supply chain.

Tighter joints, fewer leaks

A consistent low-friction finish gives a repeatable torque-to-tension relationship, so flanges are loaded as the engineer intended — and well-loaded flanges are the ones that do not leak.

What it gives your carbon accounting

Reconditioning records supply activity data you can put into a greenhouse-gas inventory or a lifecycle comparison.

  • Stud quantity and mass returned to service
  • Material kept in use rather than scrapped
  • Replacement manufacturing and logistics avoided
  • Inspection and batch traceability behind every figure

On carbon credits — the honest position

Reconditioning supports emissions reduction, but it does not automatically create carbon credits. Any credit claim needs an eligible methodology, a documented baseline, monitoring and independent verification. We can supply the underlying activity data; the crediting pathway is a separate exercise.

Pipe Supports Inspection

On-site inspection of installed pipe support systems, carried out by our own engineers alongside plant teams — planned, scheduled, managed and executed.

  • Inspection of pipe supports in service
  • Carried out by trade-qualified specialists
  • Aligned to our ISO 9001:2015 quality processes
05 — Service

NOV FGS® Field Service

Supplying the pipe is half the job. As an approved NOV FGS® installer since 2001, our own crews take Bondstrand systems from delivery to jointed, installed and ready for service — to the manufacturer’s procedures, not an approximation of them.

  • On-site jointing and installation of NOV FGS® Bondstrand systems
  • Above-ground plant piping and buried pipeline runs
  • Carried out under NOV FGS® approved installer procedures
  • Approved installer appointment held since 2001

Insulation Services

Hot and cold insulation for pipes, equipment and structures — protecting process performance, energy efficiency and personnel safety.

  • Hot insulation for process piping and equipment
  • Cold insulation for cryogenic and chilled systems
  • Insulation of vessels, tanks and structures
  • Supplied alongside our fabrication and installation teams

Scaffolding Services

Modular scaffolding built to BS standards and the AS 1576 modular scaffolding system, providing safe working access for maintenance, shutdown and installation work. Equipment is available for hire, or supplied as a complete package erected and dismantled by our own crews.

  • Modular scaffolding system to AS 1576
  • Scaffold components manufactured to BS standards
  • Equipment hire — short-term and long-term
  • Erection and dismantling by our own crews
  • Coordinated with our maintenance and installation teams, so access is planned around the work rather than after it
